These rolags represent the haunting night sky, with starlight twinkling just above the tree line, the blue dusky sky just starting to fade to darkness. The sparkles of angelina bring the flickering stars to life, and create a gorgeous array of deep colors.
By default, these are made from black bamboo with sparkling angelina fiber for color. We consider bamboo to be more of an advanced fiber because it is slipperier than wool, so please only buy if you are prepared for that. If you prefer, we are also happy to make these rolags with black merino, which his easier to spin and can be felted.
The photo of the yarn shows these rolags spun up. Please note that the listing is for the rolags, not the spun yarn.
I have priced these so that the more you buy, the more you save!
A very similar colorway is now listed in our store, which features the same colors seen here, but with added purple stripes throughout. Available here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/466030384/rolag-purple-midnight-black-blue-pink
Punis and rolags are a very fun way to spin fiber. They are easier to hold onto than big art batts and all of the drafting work has already been done for you. They may look confusing, but this is actually my favorite way to spin fiber! I usually spin my fiber straight from the locks, so whenever I get a chance to spin some of my rolags it's a real treat.
Joining them together is as simple as touching it to the fiber as it spins, and this way of spinning creates predictable, gorgeous variations in your hand spun yarn. If you prefer to felt, feel free! It will work for that too.
Thanks for looking!
