This is silk is an absolutely stunning shade of brownish silver. It is created when wild tussah silk moths spin a peduncle, which is like a handle or stem that connects onto their cocoon. These fibers are naturally dark, and normally are very stiff due to the natural glue called sericin.
These peduncle Silk fibers are harvested after the moths emerge from that cocoon naturally, then the glue is broken down by being boiled and the fibers are carded and processed into a gloriously soft combed top.
This listing is for the roving/sliver. You can use it to spin into your own yarn, felt with, or even put in soap or use in paper making.
